We got up early, and I headed out at 7:20am to see if the huts near the hot pools were nice and if we should stay another night.  Being out and about early in the morning always provides an opportunity to see the Thai people washing – they are a very clean people.  In Ranong, many of them wash in the hot pools – along with their motorbikes.  The goose you see was an excellent guard dog near one of the houses – it even charged for me twice when I turned my back.

Some photos taken from our room – yes, it was still wet weather.

Later in the morning Rebecca and I went out to cruise the surroundings and to have a hot swim.  Here you can see all the minerals in the water – the color is very whitish-green.  The center photo shows the palm fruit from which oil is extracted.

The hot pools were great and FREE!  This place felt so much like New Zealand.

Then we went to have our brunch just before midday.  Check out the gas delivery vehicle.

OK – so we don’t usually use tomato sauce.  But at this place there were larvae crawling around in it.  Notice how the white things have moved from the first photo of the bottle and where they are in the second photo.  This was in a mater of minutes.  The food tasted great though – which is why we returned here for our brunch (we had dinner here the night before).

There were some nice waterfalls just outside of Ranong.

Here we are looking at Myanmar – the River is the border.

At this service station, there was some deal for cheap/free water, but we couldn’t work out the details.  After struggling with the language, they just gave us a bottle – it was much easier that way.

Dinner was take-away pizza!
